Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

A little off-topic, but. Chris, what is the weight rating on your rotary lifts? I just picked up two 9000 pound ones. I'm hoping they will be strong enough for the van. If not, I'm going to end up flipping one.
Thanks
Morgan

Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

My only concern with a black hood is the heat it will draw.

This lift is our small one, 10k capacity. Our big lift is a 12k, taller too. Much easier to work with and I may ditch this 10k at some point for another 12.

Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

Finally got front axle parts yesterday so we finished it up and bolted it in this AM. Rear axle is bolted up too, still need to set the pinion angle and add shock mounts/etc. Need the trans/t-case installed before we do that.

Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

Transmission & t-case are in, Sterling is setup along with the brake lines & shocks, etc. Axle has 4.10 gears and an ARB Locker. Next up is the fuel tank and then a bunch of wiring. Look forward to setting it down on the 35's for the 1st time!

Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

Very nice...
Wrap? That will be interesting. I'd love to see a van done with Plasti-dip, although I don't think it'd hold up.

Also, can you elaborate on the benefit of the dual shocks? Are they both valved the same or different?

Great work as always

Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

We've already done 2 vans with "dip" and the Bronco. The technology on this stuff is changing so quick its crazy. The 1st one to the last (Bronco) is drastically different.

The 1st

2nd (John & Mandi, members here)

And the Bronco

Does it compare to paint? Not really but its also 1/3 the cost.

The dual shocks help with the ride a bit and are valved the same. Look good too

Re: 01 E350 7.3 Build

Thanks! Coming together nicely.

F bumper is on, fuel tank, drive shafts and exhaust, about time to drive it. Still have to wire up the sPOD and install the A pillar gauges. This is the 1st 92-07 bumper we've gotten from Aluminess with the square holes for Rigid Dually lights. Looks good!
