Question 1990 F-350 4x4 Donor Truck??

My dad has a 1990 F-350 4x4 with low miles that is running rough and barely driven... it has the Dana 60 up front and it's an absolute beast.

Is it worth working a deal with him to take the front end? What else besides axle can be used to convert my 2006 E-350 to 4wd? Transfer case? Transmission? Driveshaft?

Is this even a good idea and worth exploring?

axles are easy. its the bits between the axle and the van that are challenging. your axle will largely determine what type of suspension you will use, so choose the suspension first. As for the rest of your questions, if you are asking what parts from a 1990 F series will fit your 06 e series, my advise is you should probably go get started on the weeks of research you need to do.

Or pay one of our forum sponsoring vendors to do the whole job for you.

Load it all up in your van, drop it off with a check, and pick it up a few days later.

Regards,

Gavin

That axle has a 36.5" spring pad width and was used by several companies over the years to make vans 4wd but they usually put the shackle up front like the F series since it was easier. Not the best setup, especially for ride quality. A reversed shackle is better and there are a lot of variables, spring length and shackle placement will be the toughest part.
