I believe their base conversion price is 14K, but I have been wrong before.

If I decide to go with a Ford, I'd like the cost of the van to be around $10k or less
The best thing to do is start calling these converters. One word of warning regarding your statement above. There may be limits to the age and model that a converter is willing or able to convert. I know that Quadvan's conversion is designed for the latest Ford front end and they may not be able to do a conversion on an older van, at least not for the same price as a new van.

I'd like to run a 33" tire also. Maybe a 285/75r16
Though Quigley and Salem Kroger may be different, I know that Quadvan uses new F-350 front end assemblies that require a minimum wheel diameter of 17". I am planning to use Quadvan to convert my upcoming SMB and just met with them this past weekend in Portland, so I am full of info today.

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

Steve in LA -- can I ask what they are going to charge you for the 4x4 conversion? Are you going with some kind of lift thru them also?

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

Here is a reponse I got from Salem-Kroger earlier today, just FYI --

Quote:
We do convert the GM vans, but Ford has about 95% of the market in 4x4 vans. Ford has the strongest frame, good engine choices, large wheel wells ( for up to 37 inch tires ), large radiators and the toughest rear axle ( Dana 60 ) in the business. The LT285/70R17E tire is about 33 inch tall and fits with a 3.5 or 4 inch lift. The van must have a hinged side door for right rear tire clearance. Our standard conversion has a 3.5 inch lift, manual hub locks, Dana 60 Super mono-beam front axle, comfortable riding coil front suspension, steel transfercase skid plate, manual shift 2 speed transfercase, Dana drivelines, Roadmaster brand chrome-moly front and rear sway bars ( Ford doesn't even offer a rear sway bar on a van ), long stroke Rancho RSX99900 adjustanle shocks and a set of size LT245/75R17E BFG Rugged Trail T/A tires on black steel wheels ( most customers select other choices ). The price starts at $15,300 plus options and applicable sales tax ( if any ). Warranty is 3 year 36,000 mile parts and labor limited, excludes abuse and neglect. All parts are new and top quality, mostly 2010 F350 to keep it easy to live with for a long time. Hope this information helps.

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

I am waiting to get the final price for my conversion plus options. I believe Quadvan's starting price for a 4" lifted 4x4 conversion is around $12,500 not including wheels and tires.

Edit: Quadvan will do a conversion on a van with a sliding door. John has developed a door extender for the purpose.

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

There's an outfit in SLC, UT that claims they can do "most applications" for around $10k

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

QuadVan is more expensive than Quigley, but after seeing a QuadVan and Quigley side by side on racks, the extra cost is a no brainer. Quigley modifies some Ford parts should should never be altered (like steering knuckles, shock mounts). QuadVan can do ESOF 4x4 that nobody would ever guess did not come from Ford. And... the Speedometer will read correctly in 4x4 low (at least on the V10). Also, QuadVan (and Sportsmobile) can still do the 46 gallon midship tank. Those are the only manufactures that can still get those tanks.

QuadVan uses F550 front rotors on their vans.

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

Quadvan starts at $12500. Add about $1500 for push button front lockers instead of manual. Don't have to get out of the van). Add about $500 for all pushbutton no shifter. RD

Re: 4x4 Conversion?

I'm pretty sure that $1,500 is for push-button vacuum front HUBS, not lockers.
