ABS repairs in Bay Area?
Hi,
I've got an 05 PSD SMB 4x4 (Atlas) with a problem. The ABS idiot light is on and the local Ford dealer no longer wants to work on the problem due to the Dyna front end.
Peter at SMB-W is researching the replacement ABS sensor part number for me (old part number no longer available).
Does any one have any experience with local shops?
Thanks,
David

Try Towne Ford and ask for Jay Mento. They have worked on several SMB's and were not afraid of them...at least in the past.
Funny I'm having the same issue with that idiot light. Not sure if it's a wheel sensor matter or something else. Been off for a few months now.

I've got the same issue. Code appears to be for wheel speed sensor but I haven't dug that deep. It's intermittent.
I have some independent folks who are not afraid to work on our vans. They'r not the cheapest but better than the dealer, and seem reputable. In the city. Let me know if you want their info.

Yes, I'm interested, what's the shop name?

Let me rephrase the question, I am looking for local shops that have actually worked on your Dynatrac front axle, not local shops in general.

Anyone with the correct scanner can figure out which ABS sensor is not working correctly - one at each front hub and one on the rear axle housing.
Get that done at any good shop and then proceed from there. First have them check the connectors and wires for damage or loose... (do that yourself).
Nothing special about the Dynatrac front axle sensor replacement. If it is a front sensor the shop should be able to figure out the replacement part or get info through SMB West or Dyantrac.
Take sensor to Napa and let them find it for you.

I've used Towne Ford several times in the past and they're pretty good with the stock Ford stuff, but they don't always reassemble the SMB stuff correctly (electronics stuff).
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Mechanical, nothing to do with the RV side of things. But they are not afraid of custom suspension/4x4/etc, where some shops are.
