Agile Custom Springs and Shocks for 2011 SMB
I just got my 2011 E-350 EB Sportsmobile back from Agile. I drove back home through Anza Borrego to try out four custom springs and Agile's version of Fox shocks. John also replaced all the spring shackles and the rear anti-sway bushings. The biggest improvement is in the rear. My van is 10,400 pounds loaded, 6,400 of that in the rear. Problems emerged after about 14,000 miles of dirt in Baja, Mojave, Death Valley and the Sierras - my butt was low by about 1" and the handling on the freeway was squirrelly - so much so my wife was reluctant to drive it. I had Old Man Emu shocks and the original springs installed at Sportsmobile.
I took it down last month and spent 1/2 a day with Ramsey coming up with a plan - the last call I got from him was that he was heading down to Baja but wanted to work on it some more when he got back. John did a great job coming into the job halfway done. Ramsey did well by our community bringing John on board. They both spent a lot of effort trying to puzzle out the right solution and neither is afraid to pull something off and try a different approach.
This was expensive - about $3,800 but, in my case, I don't think shocks alone, or just replacing the shackles, would have done it. So after 40 or so miles in dirt and a couple of hundred on the freeway I can say the overall improvement is significant. It's still a big van on a bumpy road!
