Atlas Transfer Case
Crawled under my rig just to take a look see after another off road run and when I grabbed the front drive shaft to check for looseness in the U-joints, I noticed that the yoke coming out of the front of the transfer case had lateral movement. Not a good thing. I called Advanced Adapter to get specs and was told that the nut that holds the yoke is supposed to be torqued to 150 ft-lbs. Mine was somewhere around 50. Rather then just tightening it up I decided to replace the seal. Just for others info, it is a one time use nut and rubber washer and are Jeep parts.
Nut: Jeep #4167924
Washer: Jeep #4210973
The seal is Chicago Rawhide #21164
By the way, only lost a teaspoon of fluid doing the job. No need to drain the T-case.
Advance Adapter recommends checking the torque on the nut at 20k intervals. If just tightening, it is OK not to replace it. I went the full route as I was starting to lose some fluid from it.
Something else to put on the schedule.
