Re: Best tire for GMC Savana 2007 EB-
Yep - lots of (pretty recent even) other discussions on tires here. However, can you elaborate on your 'off road' intentions? What size tires are you looking at? Is your rig AWD, 2wd or 4x4?
If you take a look around at a most of the pickups driving around with oversize big lugged mud tires my guess is that 95% of them never use the tires for their intended purpose. Yes, these tires look fantastic and aggressive and they DO serve their purpose in mud and deeper snow. However, as a general rule they are noisy on the highway, get worse fuel economy, don't handle as well on the highway and slide around like hockey pucks on packed snow and ice with their lack of biting edges. (Goodyear Duratracs may be a bit of an exception to this rule, as they are snow rated).
I recently went from a 35" BFG Mud Terrain to a 33" Toyo All Terrain tire and I like everything better about the AT's except the looks for what I do. A good AT or even all season M&S highway tire is going to be quite capable for exploring forest roads and light two track.
Do some searching / reading on this forum - the folks here have tons of great feedback about different tires. Keep in mind that this group of folks is one of the few that is actually using some of the heavier lugged tires for their intended purpose, so you'll want to evaluate for your own needs.
