Re: Brake parts compatability F350 vs. E350

Can confirm. Drilled rotors are no good on an E350.

Took 6 months to do this. And, they were fro-treated post-drilling.

Re: Brake parts compatability F350 vs. E350

yikes, cross-drilled rotors bad. But what I was after by resurrecting this thread was soliciting experiences with replacing the brake lines with stainless.

Re: Brake parts compatability F350 vs. E350

Custom Stainless DOT Brakelines can be made by Crown Performance in Vista CA . Very Reasonable. What ever you want, just give them the lengths and fittings at the end or send them your stock ones to duplicate. Probably cheaper than the Ford Stealer.

well, they arent all bad, but theres a lot of bad ones out there. people tend to assume they are better just cause they are cross drilled. definitely not the case. no personal experience with power stop, but the name has been around for a while. could also be your driving habits too...unless baja is right, lol. just keep an eye on them

joeh, sorry to derail from your question. i have liked every braided line swap out ive done, but they were all on sub 2500lb cars. i liked the firmer pedal and its hard to explain, but the pedal reacted differently with the abs (which i used a lot). all good, but like i said, hard to explain.

if you have a local place that is certified to make dot lines and their cheaper, i wouldnt be afraid to use them. most places wont do custom work (i couldnt even get a place to make me an e-brake cable for my old 88 toyota) for cars that will be driven on public roads due to liabilities, but if they have certification to do dot lines, then they likely know their business. i had a quote from a local place for some lines, but they are so readily available for the chassis i was working with that it was cheaper to find them online.

when i end up needing new lines for our van, they will be replaced with a ss braided version.

Re: Brake parts compatability F350 vs. E350

Hey, thanks guys for the beta. Eventually I think I'll do a brake upgrade since I have a 2005 but seems like stainless brake lines are worth a shot first before I get over the financial shock of my FF axle swap.

It's either buy upgraded calipers like the Stormbrake F5 from Brakeman that SMB spec'd for awhile if I stick with 16" wheels or go the E450 bigger rotor/caliper route but I'm not sure exactly what is needed with a Dynatrack front axle and then I'll need 17" rims.

Re: Brake parts compatability F350 vs. E350

For those of you that have upgraded to stainless lines did you do a 5 line kit? On my 2005 E350 it appears there is a 16" line from the frame that ends at the splitter that feeds the two lines on the rear axle.

And does anyone know if the fittings are the same as an F series (ie., 3/8-24 Female x 3/8 Banjo)?

Brake parts compatability F350 vs. E350

I had tubes n hoses in Loveland co make up ss lines for my '03, they just duplicated what I had, I gave them all the oem lines, if I recall, they had many of the fittings but there were a few they had to swap over from my old ones. I think I have the same setup with the splitter feeding 2 lines on the rear. If your local shop is not super busy, they can have new lines made for you in an hour or so.
