Sorry about the bad luck and being stranded in Bozeangeles. I'm out of town until the 13th but if your still stranded I can get you out on the water for a day while repairs are being made (your gallery alludes to a fellow fly fisherman). Rivers are warming up but still plenty of water that can be floated.
Also if you need any other info about Bozeman let me know.
Thanks again for your replies. I think we found an axle in Eugene and it's being shipped. Hope to be back on the road by Friday. We're going to limp up the river and fish for a few days in the meantime. Wish us luck!
Swampdonky - thanks for the offer. My wife's the fish person and I know she'd like to meet you and swap fish stories but if we're still here next week I'll probably just shoot myself.

Re: Differential Problems - Please advise
You have never told us exactly what went wrong with you rear axle. Was it axle bearings, carrier or pinion bearings or worn gears...?
I'm curious what the failure was.
We have been installing more D60 FF with locking differentials of different varieties lately and are thinking of stocking several ready to bolt in units.

The carriers in the diff were never mounted correctly, have come loose. The lsd clutch plates are getting torn up again and it sounds like a bucket of marbles. I'm done throwing $$ at it.
I've been wanting to upgrade to a FF axle and had hoped to limp home to do it, but circumstances demand I do it here. The back end weighs 6000+ so this should help it out. We're on track to get it done Fri.
We're on the road again! Full floatin' on all 4 wheels with fresh shocks to boot.
Today we're going to fish our way up the Yellowstone into the park, down through the teatons and on to Denver.
Thanks again to all here who offered suggestions.
Thanks also to John at quadvan who helped us find the part and Dennis at D&L truck parts in Eugene, OR. Dennis had a beautiful rebuild rear end loaded on an express van within an hour of calling him and it arrived in Bozeman on Wednesday.
And a special shout out to the guys at Auto Stop in Bozeman. They worked on it for 10 hrs on Friday to help us get on our way. I was nervous taking a big job like that to an unknown mechanic but when we arrived we found a clean spacious 6 bay shop. What really gave me confidence was the classic white Rolls-Royce on one lift and an Aston Martin roadster on another.
Sounds like the best possible outcome. And, not only is it fixed, it's improved
I broke down in Missoula, Montana, on a cross-country trip (trailer issue) and had the same great experience. In fact, the shop was so good I had them change the spark plugs on my 5.4 SMB (was right at 100k then). Now that's trust
So I guess we can add Bozeman and Missoula to the list of "if you have to break down, do it here" towns.
