That was one of the first things I had to do with my old '91 Jeep Cherokee which had a too-bright blue light top-center on the dash that came on with the high beams. Yes, dark roads that require high-beam headlights are exactly when I want a light shining in my face. I opened up the dash and dimmed the light with just a little cut piece of white paper placed behind the blue plastic on the dashboard face. Worked great -- same color but half as bright!
