Drag Link info needed

I have one of those lucky Holy Grail vans - 2003 7.3 with the SMB 4x4. But I have run into "outdated" issues.

In the upcoming months I need to replace two drag links - one on the pitman arm, and the second on the power steering knuckle.

SMB West is having trouble coming up with the info. Might anyone out in Forumland have any leads for my 4x4 shop that is undertaking the repairs?

Thanks in advance!

You might tell us where you are located...

Sportsmobile was not doing 4X4 conversions in 2003. It was either done later in its life or is a Quigley.

Perhaps a picture of what you are looking for would help.

Actually in 2003 they were doing both there own and the Quigley.

I can't think what would be different unless SMB had to make changes when the 6.0 came out. The link Joe supplied was done by member Deminimis who owned a 2003 SMB 4x4 system. The term holy grail refers to those few built vans that had 7.3+SMB 4x4 system. SMB designed conversions have the twin stick Atlas transfer case. The parts post should have some of the info needed but I don't know how far he went to identify all the parts.
If you do find the correct info, please add to the post or one of the site team members can edit that in.

Yes, it's a SMB 4x4!

You are SO wrong, Baja!

But I forgive you!

DAVEB: Yes! I don't know how many of us (The True and Only Holy Grail owners) there are, though. I've heard as few as a half-dozen. Anyone know?

They may be 2003 year models but I was told they started doing their own conversions in 2004... not sure though. Do you know the SMB build date?

Rusty's "Surprise"

Baja -

My E350 van, the "Surprise," left the Loraine, OH plant with its 7.3 diesel engine on May 1, 2003.

The SMB package and the SMB 4x4 system was ordered from SMB West in October 2003.

It was delivered to the previous owner in early 2004.

There you go - a 2003 7.3 E350 with a SMB 4x4!

But I should have bet you!

- Rusty

That supports my thought that it was converted to 4x4 in 2004 unless you have the actual date it was converted.
