Front Grill Removal?

Done a search on here and also had a troll on the net,,,, would someone help me out with a quick question on removal of the front grill?

Van is a Ford '11 E-150,,,, I know it has the one 10m bolt center/top and the 4 plastic press-rivots,,, however, what's holding in on the bottom of the grill? I see a few small tabs, however, can't tell how they are held on or what they are holding. Don't want to get to rough with it and snap them off.

Wanting to removal the chrome grill, prep it, and spray it with a black bed liner material. Might not stick to well to the plactic,,,,, going to give it a go as a small project. Like the way the black grill looks,,,, my van is black as well. Thought I'd try before spending $ on a factory black grill.

Re: Front Grill Removal?

Never took the grill off my '06 E350, but I did take the grill off my '01 Excursion. Here's a video (not mine) of how to remove an Excursion grill, so hopefully it's the same.

I will say that reinstalling the grill was harder than removing it, specifically the clips at the bottom of the grill. For me, I tried to reinstall the grill with the clips attached to the grill itself, which resulted in a lot of failed attempts and lots of frustration. Once I tried placing the clips into their receptacles on the front core support, the grill pushed right into the clips.

Hope this helps.

Re: Front Grill Removal?

Those tabs at the bottom are just spring clips. Pull harder.

Front Grill Removal?

As long as the top screws are off. Just pull from the bottom up. Good luck.

Does anyone know where to find replacements for these spring clips? Somehow 2 of mine are missing. My "googling" has been fruitless so far.

I "think" those on the header are part of the header so could be there aren't replacements available. My '09 crash book doesn't show any clips or retainers in the grill/header panel area, typically there would be a note or part number.

Perhaps visit a local Ford dealer parts desk and ask them to print out the page showing grille attachment fasteners.

I'm hoping they're replaceable individually.
