Few mechanics have the skill or tools to properly rebuild a diff. Hell, even the experts have trouble some time, so a simple replacement is faster, easier and doesn't require nearly as much skill.

Yes, I also hope he didn’t swap out a FF for a semi-float!
John at Agile saved the day for me too, twice! Anyway, as you found out, Quigley (or was it SMB?) took the shortcut of modifying the lower mount on our rigs to be able to reuse the original shocks. When I had my FF built recently, I didn’t think about it but the shocks I had obviously wouldn’t fit, needed new longer shocks too, John sent them out right away.
