Re: Hey everyone... New Quigley owner needs some input

Nice Chevy!
I had a GMC van (2wd). Good alternative to Ford or Dodge.
Good motor and Chevys steer better than Fords IMO.
I had a chock inside for a sportbike.

Yours looks great!
You should be able to do larger arched leafs (custom I would guess). Of course then you will have to attend to steering geometry, maybe lengthening drive lines etc...
Make sure it is a full length add a leaf if you go that route.

Here is my interior for comparison.
Sadly my van was totaled in a horrific accident.

Keep after it!

And yet another Chevy Express, I love it!!!!!!!!!!
Your Van looks great I look forward to you build.
IMO I think the height is good, to high and you lose some control and the fuel mileage really gets bad some bigger tires and a set of rims with more offset will lift and stop the rubbing.
I might even have an Idea or 2 for you as for what top to use.
I took this picture before I screwed done the canvas. total investment in the top $500.00

Re: Hey everyone... New Quigley owner needs some input

well, I went to a local leaf spring shop and they said they could just add a leaf but it's going to run me around $1K... too much just to get a little larger tire. was hoping to get to 305/50/20... might just have to do some cutting and grinding to get things to fit better or go with a different offset wheel.

Re: Hey everyone... New Quigley owner needs some input

sent a message off to quigley about a small lift.. lets see if they come up with something...

thinking about tending to the brakes too. it pulls a little when on the brakes and the antilock brakes suck. anybody have any ideas on changing the rear to disk and the antilock system?

If budget is your #1, why not get coil spacers/spring blocks?

Re: Hey everyone... New Quigley owner needs some input

I got a message back from Quigley and they really can't help but suggested a few things. I thought about getting the add-a-leaf install done on the front and just blocking the rear, it would be the easiest. thanx for the ideas Jage!

Re: Hey everyone... New Quigley owner needs some input

I might suggest getting different wheels, 20" is mighty big, esp if you are going to use it more off road that the previous owner most likely did by putting 20's on it. 16's will allow you to put on a tire with more sidewall and thus the ride will be less harsh with more tire/less rim. Plus you will be able to air your tires down further if needed on sand/gravel with more tire on it. Also might be more choices in the all terrain tires in the 16". you can pick up a set of black steels for pretty cheap.
