Re: Need Links To Pics: SMB Rock Crawling

Other definitions of "overlanding":

-fixing broken vehicle parts

-buying expensive vehicle parts

-vibrating parts loose on washboard

My friends and I have been having a debate about off roading and the use of 4x4 SMBs vs other OHVs. I eventually came to more or less agree with them in that it didn't make sense to risk your expensive home on a trail that you could traverse from a comfy camp with a vehicle that cost far less, was more capable, and more fun.

On the other hand, they do get you to some nicer campsites. Sometimes. But after an initial binge of pushing limits I've settled into a much more conservative use of the SMB as an "overland" vehicle. I like to have the margin of safety the 4x4 version has, but as a friend once said, four wheel drive just gets some people stuck further from help than two wheel drive.

Murphy Hogback, White Rim. I don't know if I would call this spot "rock-crawling". More like a controlled fall...
