What a great resource here. Thanks for all generous input.

I went with BFG AT T/A 285/70/17 on our 07 Quigley. The shop that installed them trimmed the bumper dam, but I still got some rub while turning over bumps. They trimmed a small bit on the rear of the front fender wells, and it seems fine now.

I'm pretty happy with the setup, but wonder if I would be happier with wider 35s so I can hang out more with my Jeep buddies. Based on what I have now, I imagine a small lift would be needed. I have 4:10. Any advice on whether I should do that when these tires are done? TIA.

Well you're going to start rubbing again if you go to 35s with no lift. If you really want to impress you Jeep buddies go with 37s.... you're lifting anyway right?

I guess it depends on your real goals with the van. I'm considering 35s on my SMB 4x4:
Pros:
Bigger
Taller
Cooler
More capable (less worry when I point the van somewhere)
Hitch is higher (good for flat towing my Jeep)

Cons:
Garage fitment
Getting in/out changes (everything is absolutely the perfect height now)
More attention
Need to switch to 17s to get E range Toyos
More capable (easier to point the van somewhere and confidently get into trouble)
Hitch is higher (bad for towing my trailer)

Those are my thoughts. I'd like to do something like new Deaver springs and 37s but a lot of the cons become fact instead of maybes plus the overall cost of modifing everything plus tires- money I'd really rather apply to get my Jeep on 38s.

Other Pro:
More differential clearance

Other Cons:
Reduced fuel mileage (diesel is only $4+ a gallon now)
May need to regear
Need to recalibrate the speedo
Increased prices for tires
Harder to securely and safeloy carry a spare tire

Actually part of my plan for 35s is to get back some of the warranty that low range and SMBs miscalibrated speedo has cost me. I think I figured it's about 500 miles just on the miscalibration so far and who knows with the low range factored in... it's not a big deal unless something breaks between 74 and 75K, but if it does and I didn't I'd feel stupid.
