Just wanted to mention that I had a good experience ordering some recovery stuff from an outfit I had seen recommended on pirate4x4; they're
http://truckandwinch.com in Santa Ana (truck_and_winch on eBay). I got a tree saver, synthetic winch line, and a beefy shackle from them, all at good prices and free (and fast) shipping. They were able to answer my questions about weight specs when some other vendors weren't, although they had cheaper prices.
I of course won't know all about the stuff in terms of strength and whatnot until I try to break it
but it definitely has a better fit and finish than some stuff I've purchased from other brands. The rope came with some sheathing for the drum end and an eye fitting, and a generous hook and loop protective sleeve. I didn't like that the hook is permanently fastened, but easy enough if I wanna use my other one since I can just cut it off. But it seems fine. I also might have gotten a shorter rope and an extender (92')...but doubling rope with a pulley system is harder in that instance. We'll see.
And note they had some stuff on eBay they didn't have in their store (3/8 rope, e.g.).
