Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

This is on a Ambulance and it will be much heavier than a SMB.

Those springs need to go... You should also eliminate the lift blocks and get custom springs to handle everything. Don't use airbags to compensate...

I would wait until your build is complete or closer to it and then get weighed and measured for ride height and then have custom springs made.

You could get a weight and spring design from someone else who has a similar build and be pretty close.

Ramsey - got a lil sag in the rear. Might be time for a new leaf spring pack. Can you recommend anyone other than Deaver?

We do a lot of work with National Spring, just down the street. I've raced on their springs for more than 15 years. We offer a full length Add-a-leaf they designed for us that might be all you need. Full springs are another option - I have two sets being built now for a E350 SMB and a Chevy Quigley SMB.

Hey, Ramsay,
Out of curiosity, what do you think about using Fox 2.0 Performance Reservoir - CD Adjuster shocks instead of the Fox 2.0 Performance IFP shocks you modify? Here is the link. http://www.ridefox.com/product.php?m...p=1&ref=filter
Cheers
Darryl

We are getting more and more RIPs installed and shipped and getting faster at it. Go to http://agileoffroad.com/wordpress/qu...sion-analysis/ and follow the instructions for sending us pictures and we will get you underway.

The "CD" in CD Adjuster stands for "Compression Damping" and while it is important to get compression damping right, rebound damping is more important in our heavy vans. The CD Adjuster has a dramatic effect on compression damping and can be set to make the shock very stiff in compression. External rebound adjustment is difficult and expensive, though available, but not worth it.

These shocks work so well and dissipate heat so well that a reservoir is not necessary - but is available.

Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

Today a fellow drove out from AZ to have us install the RIP Kit in his 2001 Quigley. It had shinny new Bilstein 5100 Series shocks on each corner. He had only had them a few months - and to be honest, for a moment I doubted myself, and questioned if he really wanted to change shocks, or just have us install the springs and sway bar drop kit.

He was unhappy with the current ride and wanted to get our FOX shocks because he wanted to get the results he had been reading about.

With everything installed, we backed out of the bay, and started our test drive. As we drove around the back of the building, he did what every Quigley owner does - he instinctively slowed (we were not even going fast) for the rain swale in the parking lot. "Don't slow down, gas it" I barked out - and you should have seen the smiles and joy he had with each driveway, pothole, speed bump and corner I had him "test" through.

He was so happy with the results, it reassured me that we are making a difference - nice to have happy customers!

Re: Quigley and QuadVan - FOX Shox Ride Improvement Package

Thanks for the info Ramsay. I appreciate it!!
I was going to deal with the springs first since that are easy to access now, but think I will wait till the box is mounted so I can get a gauge on the rear weight.
I'm sure that I can cut an access hole in the spare tire compartment to get at the spring hanger bolts.
Do you suggest waiting till I get your kit installed and then having someone build the rear springs to match the ride height?
