Re: Quigley sway bar front axle bushings
I figured out with all your help the reason for the difficulty incerting the new bushing. The metal ring is still in the opening. Looking at it its tacked welded on the backside, was this the same for the rest of you? I will now need to press it back out, grind and cut the ring out because it is making the center hole to small for the sway bar.

Re: Quigley sway bar front axle bushings
Yes, mine had a couple of small tack welds too. I used a Dremel cutoff wheel to shave them down until they would break free, then an air chisel and/or big hammer to get those sleeves out. The bushings will then go in much more easily!

Re: Quigley sway bar front axle bushings
I used a Sawzall and a BA Hammer with a punch to pound out the sleeve. I cut the sleeve in 2 places and popped out a 1cm wide strip and then used the hammer/punch to get the rest out. 5mins tops for ea one
Also heard an air chisel makes it pretty simple to get the metal sleeve out too

Re: Quigley sway bar front axle bushings
I also have a 2000 Quigley E350 (SMB EB50). The front sway bar bushings look pretty beat and I'm getting more front sway nowadays. I'd like to replace the bushings, and really appreciate this info in this thread. I'll call Quigley for the front sway bar bushing part numbers. I'd like to upgrade to urethane bushings if possible (Moog?). Have you found a difference in the ride quality with urethane vs. rubber?
Thanks!

Re: Quigley sway bar front axle bushings
The Moog parts went in easy and fit great once I figured out I had not taken the old casing metal out. Again it was great getting all this info from the group. Above jsnable gave me the correct part numbers and Amazon as the source.

Re: Quigley sway bar front axle bushings
Glad I checked with Quigley. They gave me different Moog part #'s for my 2000 E350 4x4. They told me I need to get K8645 and K8689. The downside is that K8645 is only available in Elastomer (rubber), not Urethane. At least the frame mount bushing is available in urethane.
Again, useful info in this thread. Thanks guys.

but glad I found it with a search.
The (dreaded) tack welds were throwing me off until I read below. I was thinking something is not right here. Time for the Dremel !

Another shared experience:
Based on my VIN # Quigley provided:
- Axle sway bar bushings Ford F2UZ-5K486-A or Moog K8645
- frame sway bar bushings Ford E9TZ-5493C or Moog K8689
When I did the frame bushings I called Napa with the Moog number and left the store with poly bushings - see NAPA #'s in photo(s)(first photo is old rubber bushing) - Quigley was super helpful and provided a ton of info.
