Sagging front springs

While going over our prospective SMB (2004 EB 4x4 6.0L) I noticed that the front springs seemed very flat, almost distressed looking. I also noticed that there was only about 1 1/2 of uptravel to the bumpstop. Is this normal? Would SMB likely waranty somthing like this on a 2nd owner?

I suppose if they don't, I only live 5 miles from Alcan Springs.
Thanks,
Josh

Re: Sagging front springs

I'm going to guess you have an SMB 4x4 conversion, not a Quigley, Salem-Kroger, Quadvan or other conversion.

To my eye, the springs always looked fairly flat. And the front suspension seemed to have more down travel than up. But, I could be wrong as I have an S-K coil spring conversion.

If you are unhappy with the suspension, any good spring shop should be able to re-arch them for you. But, be careful, as you probably don't want to get the front end too much higher than the back.

Re: Sagging front springs

Mine was like that. It can be painful (literally) to say, cross a railroad at speed. One of the things we like about the Deavers is you get the same front end bounce, but without the crash. There still isn't much uptravel, but we're not actually hammering the stops now.

Search on Deavers and jage. I think there are photos of my old spring setup.

Re: Sagging front springs

We bought our 2003 the same way. Flat springs.

Re: Sagging front springs

My 2005 SMB are flat as well (photo in my album). That is a project awaiting funding.

Is there anything in the Stimulus Package to help SMB 4x4 owners get new springs and shocks?

Re: Sagging front springs

I think I remember the Badgers getting theirs replaced under warranty. I tried searching their website but I couldn't find it last I looked.
Thanks for the replies.
EDIT to add: Just found it on their site. SMB did replace the springs.
Hmmm
