Not just the Transit but also any 2015 and up F150 is now that way. Used to be if you installed bigger tires and wheels the dealer could program the speedo/odo to the new tire size. No longer possible for a dealer to do that. It can still be done but it takes a very expensive Hypertech tuner. (I have a new F150.)

Is it a Ford system?? F150?

Similar to Sprinter 4x4 I suppose. I was looking that over and checking out the Vancompass lifts, one of which I think works on the new 4x4. They claim 33" tires possible, but I think they prefer 31.

Interesting bit of news--"Peel and Seek" break-ins that seem to be mostly affecting European Transits, but apparently some other makes, as well.

The manufacturers have stated that they are re-working their designs to address this risk.

well that's gotta be disheartening for the owners of those rigs...damn crooks.

thanks for posting that link. definitely a good heads up for owners on this forum. might even be a good thing to give that info its own thread so it comes up easier in a search...

The E-series has a huge vulnerability too... the plastic license plate housing in the rear door is one claw hammer or crow bar swing away from access through the rear doors. It is unbelievably easy to get in the rear door of an E-series if you took a look at how the door latch works inside. A buddy of mine has had tools stolen out of his van because of this access point. I showed him how it worked and he made some mods to his van so they couldn't do it again...They sure tried though. His rear door skin was ripped open a couple weeks later.

Low Top Sprinters look terrific IMO. There's a white one in my neighorhood, drive by it daily, always look twice.

Well, that's a good question. What were we talking about? I think Flux and I were just pointing out the awkward big knob magnets on the back of the Transits and how Sprinters have a little bit better design here, but I should just say this: My favorite van, without a doubt, is a paid for one. My favorite color? The paid for one.

Funny, I had been looking at so many pics of rigs with much larger diameter tires and wondering if those would dramatically affect speedometer/odometer accuracy. The older e-series units were adjustable?

(I just figured the logic might be "We're not going to be doing much speeding anyway, so no big deal.. )

I would be imagine they could at least have a somewhat more aggressive tread pattern without materially changing the tire diameter.
