Great suggestion, I hadn't even thought of that possibility.

Yes, very good point.

Re: Slow, but maybe accelerating, leak

You can find out the leak with a water/soap spray you spray on the tyre and wheel. For Tyre leaks I always work with this sealastic stuff.

I guess it is also available in the states. I often repair tyres with this when i am on a trip, and never had problems with it. It works till the tyres where used up. Even the producer says it is only for emergency use.

Re: Slow, but maybe accelerating, leak

I had one of my rims crack and leak. Thankfully the manufacture replaced it with a new one N/C. Les Schwab did the work, found the crack, got the new wheel and replaced it also for no labor charge. They had replaced the valve stem thinking that was it but the wheel and tire continued to leak. Kind of hard to find the problem. The wheel was 9 years old.

Re: Slow, but maybe accelerating, leak

Aluminum wheels don't get along with the metal in some of the balance weights. With a little salt and water it causes the metals to react with each other and a slow leak results. That is why I don't like Aluminum wheels.
