Had the broken upper springplate welded with some gussets added for strength. Also welded the two plates that make up the assembly together--basically welded the crap out of it.
Made the same mods to the other side to prevent future breakage. If these break again, fingers may have to be pointed at the driver.
Shortly after the Badgers had one of these plates break on their van I was at SMB west for some work and asked about the new improved design. They showed it to me and gave me two of them for free. I have yet to install them as I had not had any trouble yet with the original ones.
