Starting to suffer from 4x4 envy
Seems like this site is mostly about tuff off road rigs and my poor 2x4 Dodge just doesn't measure up. I still need to get into Hotel parking garages to carry in my musical equipment other wise I'd put a lift kit on it , Some gnarly tires and a roof rack over the cab with some big off road lights.Looks like you guys get to some great spots.I'll have to stick to black top and easy dirt roads for a while.Oh Well, Ce La Vie .

I already have another conversion van that I need to sell as well as a Big motor home and Jeep cherokee 4x4 so I'm running out of room. And wife is running out of patience

No worries Stan. I have the gnarly tires, rack, off road lights etc. Though it worries me to take such a expensive vehicle too far off road. 4x4 is a nice option for those times that you really need it but there are plenty good sites to see without 4 x 4.

And 4x4 means a solid front axle. This extra unsprung weight would most likely significantly worsen your ride quality.

QuadVan 4x4 vans ride better than stock 2wd vans. I was very surprised when I took one out on a test drive. Some of the RR crossing in NW Portland usually require crawling over at walking speed, even in a car. The QuadVan (RB V10 with 4" lift and dual Bilsteins) took them smoothly.

Two wheel drive is fine, 4 wheel drive just lets you get stuck in worse places...

If you stay with 2WD make sure you have some sort of a rear locker, or you WILL find yourself getting stuck on wet grass, snow, some gravel inclines, etc.!
