Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

Thanks to all who responded.

This is turning into quite the investigation. I haven't been able to get useful info from TransferFlow thus far which is disappointing since the made the bloody thing. John at Quadvan says the TransferFlow tanks that fit a Quigley 7.3 will also fit a Quigley 6.0, so maybe this may fit after all.

It looks like it's gonna come down to spending a weekend dropping the factory tank and playing around with the new (used) one to see how it fits and the mounting brackets work. I can do the tank vent mod (harpoon) of the stock tank if it doesn't work out so the weekend won't be a total loss...

To add to the published part numbers: mine is stamped 060-01-11780 46.0 97-03 AS FD DS Tank Assembly and supposedly came from a 2001 7.3 Quigley van.

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

O HAPPY DAY!

Engineering Dept of TransferFlow (TF) came through for me big time. I recant any and all disparaging remarks made earlier.

TF believes the tank will fit my van with slight modification to the venting system and provided drawings with install instructions too.

Now to go out and get dirty.

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

I was doing a search for large (12,000 gal) fuel tanks and came accross this company.

http://www.aerotanks.com/

No endorsement, but they may be worthwhile to checkout.

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

I've talked with Aerotanks in Corona which is just up the freeway from me. They can build and install a custom tank for about $850, but the sales guy didn't think it would be as large capacity as the TransferFlow. They needed to see the van to do some calculations on volume.

Please let us know what they say about it. Thinking about a transformer type van with a bigger tank. Thanks

Re: Transfer Flow 46-gallon fuel tank and 6.0 diesel question

I stopped by aerotanks two weeks ago on the way to Palm Springs. Didn't have the van but talked with them and they told me the same thing they told switchfoot. I may try and get over there in a few weeks and drop off the van if the budget allows. Will repost if I can make it happen.

They were building some nice tanks.
