Yes, it fits with no modifications. And there's plenty of room left over for the control cable and snatch blocks and tree saver, etc., etc..

The feet look the same on the Warn site.. i thought you could loosen a couple bolts on the drum plate and then twist the feet?

Last i heard the difference between the 12k and the 15k was the internals. The case was almost identical. There's only some slight differences. The weight of the two winches are the same 136lbs. The drum is the same size at 3.5". They both share the same 4.6hp motor too.

I must be thinking of another manufacturer which has "feet" in both positions, it's been awhile since I was comparing 15K winches.

I think the issue was partially the 70-lb L plate and partially that the ~85lb Aluminess bumper was itself too heavy for Jeff's tastes.

Can one buy the Warn winch sans wire rope and go with synthetic line?

I like the weight savings, but I really don't want to buy it with wire rope then remove & store it.

I bought the synthetic rope from Viking offroad and had it drop-shipped to SMB in Fresno. They declined to install it saying that Warn will not warranty their winches with synthetic winchline! I installed it myself and wouldn't use wire rope on a winch on a bet! I broke a cable winchline on my Jeep one time and that made a serious believer out of me.

Synthetic winchline is nice... but i cannot justify the price... for 125'.. it's like $250+

Now if i was rockcrawling and using my winch every weekend, then yes it would be a no brainer.. but for our overland SMB... i'll use it once twice a year... i'll pass for now.

Not to mention, you really should switch to a hawse fairlead instead of the standard roller fairlead. That's added $ right there.

The necessity for a hawse fairlead for synthetic line is not only a myth, but according to the guy who owns Viking Offroad, the roller fairlead, especially with Delrin rollers is the preferred set-up. However the hawse fairlead is lots cheaper and lighter as well.
