Re: Your thoughts about rubber?
I would completely agree with LenS about Michelin for a 2wd van. I had two sets on my 98 E350. Very very good tires.

Re: Your thoughts about rubber?
Seems my Van had Michelins on it when new... LT something but I don't know about the USA but here they are about 20% more expensive than other tyres...
I had a bad experience of aquaplaning on Michelin tyres and got put off them... I live in an area (or tend to drive to areas) where cold conditions bring snow in the winter and the Toyos over here have excellent ratings from the test centres and auto magazines...
I shall have a series of pictures when I get to do the swap and I will tell you all how I get on... Oh just called my supplier and Rims are due first week of Jan

Nitto and Toyo are the same company. BFG are crap In my humble opinion of course.. you dodged a bullet.
But seriously, I think most people who go Toyo are talking about the Open Country M/T which is a mud terrain tire whereas the Toyo Open Country A/T are an all terrain and much quieter. The Nitto all terrains are quieter than the BFG all terrains, and I don't see why the Toyo A/Ts wouldn't be similarly quiet.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree Jage. I love the BFG's. Been running them on all sorts of rigs for way longer then I care to remember. If I start having problems like you've posted, I'll jump to your side of the fence. Till then....
By the way, I read that BFG now makes the ATs in E rating in the sizes we use. Don't know anything about them, just what I read.

Re: Your thoughts about rubber?
I did a little research and found that while BFG HAS added some sizes in E rating, those of us with '08 or newer (17" rims) are out of luck; at least in 315X70X17, which I believe most are.
However, if you run 315X75X16 as I think Scatter does, you're covered.

Re: Your thoughts about rubber?
That's true, but the chart hasn't been updated. Try Googling something like "New BFG "E" rated offroad tires.

Re: Your thoughts about rubber?
If that's true, I'm heading down to my dealer right now!
However, searching the BFG site only brings up:
Size: LT315/75R16/D 121Q Sidewall:RWL MSPN:03643
I need proof......

Re: Your thoughts about rubber?
The new "E" rated sizes are:
225/75/16
285/70/17
305/70/16
325/65/18
265/75/16
325/60/20
None of which blows MY dress up...
