2019 MBUX and tire size

Just learning that increasing tire diameter can cause the MBUX driver assist and cruise control to fail. Anyone have any experience with this or know if the software Ben overridden?

I seem to recall seeing something on this from Rob at Van Compass. I’ll look for it, but suggest you contact Mark or Rob.

Edit: Found a recent VC Instagram post with some info. It says they are doing the research to see what the largest tire size is that doesn’t affect the adaptive cruise is, also that 285/70/17’s are working.

Thanks Fitz, he’s who I am working with and also trying to see if MB can deal with software changes. I’ll post the results.

Thanks SCTN..... apparantly waiting to be shipped from SC West. Hope to have it at my upfitter in early November or late October. I just noted this from the Sprinter forum, but am questioning it and will be attempting to confirm:

"We just got the adaptive cruise control to work with 285/70/17 tires ~ 32.7" diameter. Can't say for sure if a true 33 will work."

Just went to Expo East this weekend and saw several Sprinters with 33" tires, but they were rubbing on the wheel wells. They looked good though.

The understanding is some trimming is required with 33’s, but the more important issue on the 2019s is the loss of a driver assist in the MBUX system, which is apparently very nice. As I understand it a number of tire sizes are being tested by upfitters to address this and some dealers are looking at possible computer recalibrations. I hope so, I take my delivery on my 2019 144’ high roof at the end of the month. I am also hoping for some bumper systems that will work with the park assist.

Sure you didn’t forget anything? Ha! Sounds like it’s going to be an awesome rig, can’t wait to see how it turns out...and what you squeeze on those 16’s...I’m staying stock hoop size as well.
