My guess: its no good on the hardware and probably unsafe to drive. But the real problem is gonna be the computer systems that freak out.

You're upgrading to 265/75r16 tires? If so, are you going to calibrate your speedometer for the larger size? Thanks!

I was thinking LT265/70R17 but now you're making me want to leave work and go check my notes. Basically I was going to go up 1" in diameter where you're talking about 2".
As I understand it we can't update the computer for our new tire sizes (lame). So we're stuck with it providing incorrect readings. According to tire comparison web pages going up 1" in diameter will mean when my speedo reads 70mph I'll actually be traveling 72.5mph. I can live with that.

The 265/70/17 has the same diameter as the 265/75/16, both going up 1". I can also live with the speedo difference, but I wonder how much the larger tires affects the ABS system and other components. Probably not much. Probably worth it!

Ah, duh, I didn't see you were sticking w/ 16" wheels.
Are you thinking the stock wheels? I plan on ditching them because of the 6.5" width. The Method wheels are 7.5" and these larger tires seem to want at least 7"...

I was thinking of keeping the stock wheels, but may upgrade to the Method wheels. However I prefer the 16" wheels because they're better for off-road driving. Do you know the largest tire size that will fit the stock wheels? Thanks!

I notice on page 1 of this post BajaSportsMobile (Agile OffRoad) says the biggest tire size that'll fit on stock wheels is 265/75R16.

They are only 1/4 of an inch bigger radius so they will work.
Truth is all three of these tire sizes will "rub" just a little under the exact right conditions, but not a problem.

The top 2 tires have the same diameter and the same width. The difference is more sidewall with the 265/75R16's. So the question is what's more beneficial, more rim or more sidewall? I am thinking more sidewall makes sense for offload, being able to let air out in sand etc... Am I missing something? Need to upgrade mine soon.

not sure if I'm being redundant but I have 265/R17's on Method wheels on my 2016 4x4. The MPH error is about 1.5 at 60 mph. I'm actually going 61.5 mph when the speedo says 60. Since I can't correct the speedo I have gradually stopped worrying about it. Calculating MPG is of course off but being mathematically deficient I have no idea how to figure it out....so I don't! I just run out of fuel when the tank is empty somewhere around 300 miles after a fill up.

Agile Offroad RIP and ROAMBUILT Wheels
Another way to go is with the Agile Offroad RIP is to use ROAMBUILT wheels as per below. We are having this completed at Agile. They can also modify the spare tire cage to accept the tire size delineated or you can go with the Aluminess rear bumper and mount the spare on that.
The wheels and RIP combined are pricy no doubt. But the components are designed to work with each other with the tire specified.

ROAMBUILT Wheels designed for RIP, BFG A/T 275/70/17 Tires. Negates need for wheel spacers
