Agile upgrades
Ok so just got back from spending more $$$ on my van just when you think you have it dialed in...One year anniversary of the van about a dozen trips, snow, desert, mountain, surf etc. 10k miles. I have a 4-6 week Alaska trip planned this June/July so what the heck.
The van has preformed better than expected and I pushed it more than expected so I hope I can justify the upgrades, each upgrade I did I could of used throughout the year so now I feel the van is complete..Ya right!
John and crew at Agile did a great job and it was done in 4 days, I live in LA so a few hrs. drive south and a train ride up and down made it easy. Below is a list and photos
Agile 2" RIP Suspension system
Agile hidden winch w/zeon Platinum 10s epic shackles
Agile 28 gal rear aux tank
Aluminess rear bumper, spare tire, storage box
PIIA horn (now not embarrassed to honk it)
Black out Mercedes emblems front/rear

Very nice! It’s a never ending process....
Does the 28 gallon rear tank pump into the stock tank the same as the 14 and 20 gallon tanks do?

Hi Fitz,
Yes just like a house always something to do...fuel pumps into the rear tank using the same tank filler I think the 14g and 20g have a 2nd fill nozzle??. The aux pump works pretty fast so you can transfer at about the same speed as the station pump. I did find where Agile placed the aux pump switch is very hard to reach with the drivers door closed, so adding fuel from the aux tank while driving might be a bit risky. I did follow your lead on the PIIA horn what a difference.

Steadijib,
Glad the horn worked out for you, simple solution to a known problem.
I believe I will add a second fuel gauge for my auxiliary tank, one that is visible when driving. The engine must be shut down to signal a “fueling event”, without this the main gauge does not show the added fuel. I find it hard to trust that the transfer occurred when I’m rolling down the road in the dark, thus being able to see that the auxiliary tank is empty will let me continue knowing that the transfer was successful.

Nice work! I am definitely a fan of Agile's RIP and upgrades in general. All the upgrades have been well worth it. That 28 GAL tank is a monster! However, you can't have too much fuel.
I have been mulling over adding that tank as 2nd aux tank in addition to the drivers side aerotank we already have. Like you, Alison and I are setting up for a big trip to Alaska, going as far north as the Brooks Range. It's a pretty remote area.

My family has given me a hard time about the wimpy horn in my E350 based ride for the last 13 years I've owned it. Maybe its time for an horn upgrade for me too!
Enjoy your trips!

I also went with the RIP set and John and his crew did a great job. I have the same set up that both you and Fitz have. I had it build by another outfitter. So far no problems just turned 20 K. The ride improvement is huge.
My next and Last (never ends) will be the extra fuel tanks that you both have. The only negative with the sprinter is the tank size.
Fitz thanks for all your write ups really helpfull and our rig came out great using many of your thoughts and projects
Thanks again for everyone’s experiences and projects

We will turn 35k on the odometer today on our way back from a trip up to see the snow. No issues with the van, very dependable and always fun to drive.
I keep thinking I’m “done” with the van, but other projects keep coming along (great)! The new auxiliary fuel tank has been a great addition, it is always interesting to look at all of the ideas here and then determine what are “have to have’s”.

Love the skid plate in back. It looks hard-core.

Agree completely “work in progress” but it is worth it.
