Also keep in mind most all DMM's have an internal 10 amp fuse in case the inline reading exceeds that current. Most I've used and tripped were a glass fuse type, no doubt varying with each meter's manufacturer. I keep extras in a bag that also holds my valued DMM, easy to find when/if needed.

I put in a switch on the positive cable from the battery. I turn it off whenever the SMB is to be parked for an extended time. It solved the battery drain problem.
