Changing out the emergency brake

Most of the Sprinters I have seen have the standard emergency brake that when engaged prevents the driver's seat from swiveling.

There is however, an alternative emergency brake which looks like the original but after you engage it you push it down. It goes down without disengaging the brake as long as you don't push on the button.

My question is how do you get the plastic cover off the forward part of the brake? The back part comes off easily but the front is a complete mystery. I may have to cut it off and order a replacement.

If anyone knows please post the solution.
