Coyote Flats - Is it Sprinter Compatible?

illking's recent thread on Coyote Flats got me thinking....I have a three day weekend next weekend so I'm wondering if my 4wd Sprinter can get up there. Any comments, or anybody interested in finding out first hand? Thinking of driving to Bishop Thursday night and leaving from there Friday morning if anybody is interested!

I'm sure you'll get up there fine I. The sprinter. The creek crossings are low but there really over grown so you might get some nice pinstripes. I got a few but I think they'll buff out

How about a high-clearance (6-inch-lifted) 2WD van on 33" tires....with a locker?

Low range would be nice to have. I did it and forgot to put it into low range and the tranny got hot and I'm liking the idea of heading up.

@MountainBikeRoamer Im sure you'd be fine also, a few sections on some of the upper trails you might be nervous about carrying momentum thru but those are avoidable. You should go up friday early with @Fitz start early and avoid the heat on the lower section. Have fun!

Is this the Coyote Flat that is off of Schober Lane just south of Bishop, CA?

Yes, Coyote Valley Road or Coyote Flats Road, I see it listed as both, just west of Schober Lane on the west side of Bishop.

Heading towards Bishop late tomorrow afternoon from the Bay Area, most like will stay somewhere along the way and arrive there sometime Friday morning and then head on up to Coyote Flat, just throwing it out there if anyone is interested.

Very tempting to join you. I just need to get a few things moved around Thursday and drive up Friday and maybe home on Monday if I can pull it off.

Gooseberry (and others with interest),

I'm thinking a late breakfast/early lunch at Schat's Bakery would be a good way to start the day. I'll check in here tonight once I know how close to Bishop we made it, that will give us an ETA for tomorrow morning.
