Looking good Fitz.

MtShasta: the first 2 pics in post #71 show the XL storage ... pretty much a smugglers box set down into the floor

I will post some detail pictures when we get off the road, IF we get off the road and overcome the almost overwhelming desire to just keep on going....

Finished XL storage, solar panels mounted to the rear vs. the front, solar panels mounted to 118" Thule rails mounted to the PH, ARB air compressor under the hood, curved LED light mounted to the brush bar, additional electrical switches located on the dash, additional gussets welded to the rear Aluminess bumper to add a bit of strength, etc. Anything else anyone wants to see? Let me know and I'll do my best to comply.

Currently in Ventura on the beach. Few miles planned for today, the emphasis will be on sun, sand, wind and waves (and not thinking about the "real" world waiting for us next week...)

Look see

Hi fitz
My build is coming due Sept 27th it'll have the same except gucho behind the drivers seat. Yours really looks classy!
How does the upgraded audio sound? How about a pic of the quick release for the air? Have you had an alignment done?
Did you bring sleeping bags Etc down to TX for your trip back home?
How fast are you traveling while breaking engine in?
Safe travels!

The upgraded stereo is great for us, really liking the Apple CarPlay integration. We don't blast the volume, the extra components required for that would be lost on us.

Post #61 above contains a picture of the air connection, it is located behind the driver's side rear tire. I will add a better picture later.

I have not had a front end alignment done. 1,750 miles so far and I notice a very slight vibration at highway speed, nothing of concern. I will probably have it checked when we get home, more for curiosity than anything else.

Yes to sleeping bags and a few other necessities brought as baggage on the airplane. We have everything at home so are traveling light and will outfit when we get home, for now we have picked up a few minor items and are getting by just fine.

We took lots of side trips and kept the speed varied and below 60 for the first 1,000 miles. The van wants to go faster and I-10 with its 80 mph speed limit in Texas made it tempting to do so but I feel good about what we did.

All good!

Garage
G'day Fitz,
Enjoying your postings, immensely.
Just interested, why the Symetrec D rings behind driver & passenger seats?
The Rotopax behind spare tire & Aluminess box, are they for fuel or is one for water?
Cheers Doug.

I plan to put gasoline for the generator in the Rotopax behind the Aluminess box. I had to order without true dimensions and thus I have a one gallon Rotopax, when I was at Aluminess yesterday they had a two gallon Rotopax that I was able to try and it looks like it will fit, thus I may upsize.

Regarding the D rings, we ended up leaving the stock MB tie down on the pillar next to the sliding door and added another to the driver's seat base. These two up front plus the L-track on the floor in front of the bench seat will give me the ability to tie anything sitting in the open floor space to four points, which should be versatile enough to allow me to tie down whatever odd shaped item that presents itself in the future.

Fastswede,

You asked.... pictures thru the back doors.

The full view.

Normal position.

With the back platform removed. Lots of storage if the lower bed isn't required.

From left to right.

And a look down into the XL Storage. It is bigger than it looks as it extends back up underneath to the rear, the interior dimensions are 26" x 26" x 17" deep.

How about a pic of the quick release for the air? QUOTE]

Davidboco,

Congratulations on your upcoming delivery date, you will enjoy it!

Here are a couple of pictures of the driver's side rear of the van. The air compressor connection is located down low, just behind the rear tire. You will see the added LED light up top, the exterior shower connection about mid height, and the air, City water, and water tank drain down low.
