Good job on the tapping. I'm surprised that SMB didn't lay that material to begin with? My e350 ph was tapped that way when they put it in, is it a sprinter thing that they pass on this protectant?

Wow, I'm surprised your SMB-modified Sprinter didn't come with the (butyl?) tape already installed. As far as I know, all the SMB Ford's come that way.
Also, smart move on touching up the paint first.

I must have been typing as you were posting. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

HERB, Ha Ha! Thatta way. My writings are Open Source, anyone that quoted me takes their chances!
I thought it was classic that we were on the same page.
My e350 has the tape and it was put in during the PH addition by SMBwest. It seems like it's best practice to do it.
Fitz, good job on the maintenance and attention to detail.

This is the way SMB Texas sent the van out the door, with no mention if this was a new build option. Let's see if we can get others to chime in with their experience.

SMB West had the tape installed on my RB50 build.

Cutting Board
The sink cover that SMB provides looks nice in pictures and provides a smooth overall surface, but I have been at a loss to find a practical use for it. It is heavy enough to stay in place when traveling and thus it hides whatever is in the sink, but beyond that I haven't been able to take it out and do anything with it.
I've known that I wanted to do this for quite some time, I finally took the time to replace it with a cover with more of a purpose.
An hour with a bamboo slab, a bandsaw and a router table gave a good result, now it has a dual purpose that will be used on a regular basis.

Love bamboo, have a few boards in the kitchen. Also, we have one that is mixed tropical hardwood scraps that where turned into a cutting board: the colors are mixed on it but it would match up with the cherry tones on the cabinets well. Great inspiration on the upgrade.
Enjoy the weekend, stay busy. I'm sure you will...
