Re: Mercedes to sell Sprinter vans through its own stores

Wondered when that would happen. I would assume that SMB would stay with the Sprinter at least for a couple of years to see how the Chrysler/Fiat products looks and sells.

Re: Mercedes to sell Sprinter vans through its own stores

I was in Germany this summer and went to a big offroad expo...there were some very cool Ivecco's and Ducato 4wd vans.

It would be super cool to see a SMB conversion of either the Fiat Ducato 4x4

Or the Ivecco Daily

Lots of room inside, both have proven 4wd systems (although parts might be an issue in the USA for a while, not sure what Canada and Mexico are like for Fiat) but the Euro folks have been tricking these out for a while so SMB would have some cool examples to work off of.

Since SMB has a close relationship with Chrysler already I would think that this would be a great chance to expand their line up. The real question is who is gonna order the first one?

Owner reviews of the Fiat Ducato.
Some of them are not happy.

Re: Mercedes to sell Sprinter vans through its own stores

Check out the HP and Torque numbers in this article. I can't vouch for the accuracy of this information, but if true, it would be a nice improvement in performance and could be enough to get me into the Sprinter. The fixed 74" roof and extra room sure sounds nice.

<<<
And if you’re thinking about a Sprinter, you might want to hold off until then; the model will be relaunched with the more modern 3.0-liter BlueTec turbo-diesel V-6 that’s offered on the Mercedes-Benz ML320 BlueTec, along with variants of the GL-Class and R-Class. The new engine in the Benz SUVs makes 210 horsepower and 398 pound-feet, while the older 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 currently in the Sprinter makes 154 hp and 280 lb-ft.
