Near future owner

Hello,
Wanted to say hi all. Been lurking and reading a ton for years and about to become an owner of a 2019 170 crew 4x4 with a Sportsmobile West conversion.

First off wanted to give those waiting or who are about to put a deposit down and have read about 24 month or longer waits some have expressed on here. I put a deposit down late January 2019. Was just notified this week my van was pulled for production iand is scheduled to be built this September. That’s extremely fast in my opinion. Maybe the Charleston plant is going to be a good thing for a quicker turnaround.

I was so pessimistic about van arrival this year I haven’t even worked with my salesmen on floor plan or features, but I believe still plenty of time but I do plan on spending more time reading some of the great threads on here and may have some questions. Conversion scheduled to start January maybe sooner.

Until then,...

One of the more important items for me is the rear shower. I should call it rear hand held de-sander. I’d really like to get some good action from it and remove sand from my kids, it’s number one job, efficiently and fast. I know I’ll blow through a lot of water but I’m going to be firm with 26 g fresh water tank or larger during build process. Can high pressure be achieved or should I come to expect standard rv/travel trailer shower that I am familiar with? Anyone needed something similar and upgraded their system or is it adequate as is?

Do some research and find a person or company renting the same platform as a camper van, and make the investment of renting 2 or 3 for 4-5 days each. Firsthand knowledge of how YOU expect to use the van is far more valuable than other people's opinions.

I really like your quote.
If I may, I might inscribe it in our van.

There a special shower heads that will increase the
“ power” without using more water than normal. You might want to check into those.

I recently bought this shower head that doubles for our sink and shower: https://www.amazon.com/ITC-97022001-.../dp/B007HRVO5O
It did not have enough "power" so I used some bath caulk to plug up the spray holes around the outer ring. Now it gives a great powerful spray at low water flow. Don't expect SMB to find all the best solutions for you.

Llamadave,
Thanks for the info! I knew I’d seen them but couldn’t recall where. As for depending on SMB....most of my best ideas come from my own head, lol.
