Flarespaces on rear of both sides. Custom cabinet behind bath is same height as bottom of flarespace. Custom mattress lies over custom cabinet and extends over rear mattress (73"x29" at foot, but expands into flarespace). Cabinet behind driver's seat is Cruise 165 fridge/frzr. Mattress in rear sits as low above wheel wells as possible and is 69"x38". Both mattresses extend the extra 5" to the rear doors. Flarespaces do not appear on this diagram.

Tell us about the flarespaces. Is this a new SMB/Sprinter option and if so, is it available at all three locations, or is it something you are having custom made?

Scroll down this page. Near the bottom on right find Van Fiberglass Flares.

Here's a google image search for Gulf Stream Vista Cruiser G24. Scroll through and you'll see some even larger:

Are you just holding your space for a 2018 van, or going with a 2017? Since the 2018 is going to be a redesign with the dimensions and specs largely unknown, I'm not sure how much planning you can get down until they release the van itself.

The beginning build date is Jan. 17, 2018, however Brian says that the lead time to order a Sprinter is much longer than other makes and it must be ordered within a couple of weeks in order to get the vehicle in time for the build. We have to put down the full amount of the Sprinter (not including conversion) at the time they order it. Perhaps they know there will be no dimensional changes for 2018. I will have to ask Brian about this. I have had several email inquiries to him for a week now. He is so swamped that he has not been able to answer. It would be a nice surprise if they were to make it 73" wide with vertical walls though!

I have been reading about the Espar D5 Hydronic on Eberspacher's web site. I see a couple of different models. One indicates dual use for hot air and block pre-heating; the other for hot air and cabin hot water.

I have read a post or two here on the forum that a single D5 can be used for all three purposes. Does anybody know if that is correct for a Sprinter? If so, any details on that?

BTW, for anyone in the process of planning a build, here is the MB online Sprinter options code guide for 2016 (384 page long PDF); can't find one for 2017 or '18.

The 2018 is a complete redesign. MB hasn't released any info on it yet, and none of the upfitters will have any info, either.

The only thing we know about the new Sprinter is that it's going to be FWD with an interior more akin to the Metris. Aside from that, it's all speculation and rumors.

The 2017 is the same as the 2016 with the only difference being the addition of a leather wrapped steering wheel and swivel seats for both driver and passenger.

The Espar D2 is purely an air heater. You can use a D5 for hot water, heat, and engine pre-heat (sort of), but you won't find this setup on Espar's website as they just make the heater itself. You need all the air handlers, flat plate exchanger for hot water, etc. Rixen is who makes the kit that SMB uses.

This explains it roughly, and the link at the bottom has the itemized parts list.
Sprinter and Class B & C RV’s

It'll be easier for us all to provide feedback if you give us some details about yourself, what you're going to use this for, and any other goals you might have.

I'm not sure we'll see that FWD Sprinter in North America. So far spy photos of next generation Sprinters have revealed FWD on the shortest 126" wheelbase units that we don't get stateside. European medium (aka our 144" short) and long wheelbase spy photos have all been the traditional RWD drivetrain.

It may be similar to Ford's full size transit, which has been available in both FWD and RWD in Europe for many years. But only the RWD Transit was brought over to North America.
