undercoating/rustproofing recommendations (necessary for Sprinters?)

Cross posting this here because SMB tells me they have not seen rust under Sprinters.

Before I spend a winter in the slush I'd like to get a sense of whether others with Sprinters have had any issues with winter impacts, so thanks for bearing with the redundancy.

Not pertaining to the undercarriage, but there are some posts here in Fitz's thread about rust where a penetration in the van body was cut, and not adequately addressed prior to rust developing. My point here is that if rust can form on the body, it can form underneath the body.

Whether or not it is a significant issue, probably depends on where you live and where you will use your Sprinter. If either is where they salt roads, or if either is close to the ocean, undercoating may well be worth it to you.

Thanks BroncoHauler. I saw these (and in person!). SMB Fresno assures me they treated all penetrations they made on my van. I'm inclined to take them at their word.

I'm planning a month or two this winter in UT, CO, WY chasing ice and snow, so probably there is corrosion potential there. I'll go to tahoe regularly in winters for skiing. So that's why this is front and center at the moment.
