2wd E Series Coil Spring Codes and year to year interchange

I was curious to see if anyone has access to or can post a link to factory Ford coil spring code specifications.

Also, if all 1992-2011 springs are interchangeable or what other year coils will fit my 1999 E250 RWB Cargo Van.

I would like to lift or at least level out my rig to run 265/75/16s on the OEM steel wheels as I have seen others have done. I've called two different dealerships but neither of the guys at the parts counter could tell me what spring rate my stock coils were and neither could advise me on my options to 'lift' my van with a factory coil.

The spring code on my van is MR
The GVWR is 8600
The F. GAWR is 3700
The R. GAWR is 5120

Any suggestions or info would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

I just did the same thing you are wanting to do. I went to a local spring shop and told him what I wanted, he just sold me some aftermarket springs that were 7/8" wire instead of 3/4" like the factory ones. They are made here locally but I just checked and they are now being sold in the U.S.
Here's the link:

Re: 2wd E Series Coil Spring Codes and year to year interchange

Thanks for the link. I saw your thread and was going to ask you about the coils you had... which are you running, the 3935lb or 5000lb springs and are they progressive or single rate? How's the ride with them and do you rub your 265s at all?

I found a set of progressive e-super duty coils for $50, I think I'm going to give them a shot to see what I get out of them as far as ride height and ride is concerned. The only spec I can find on them lists them as 6000lb springs for the set (3000lb each) but I'm assuming (hoping) this is max load and the first few inches of suspension travel aren't back breakingly stiff...

On my quest for factory spring info I found some specifications in the 'Ford Truck Body Builder Advisory' online:

https://www.fleet.ford.com/truckbbas/to ... specs.html

Though there is no spring code break down it looks as though there are over a dozen different springs to choose from that would be heavier than what I'm currently running, too many to choose from at $200 a set so if my $50 springs don't work out I might be better off just going the route you did.

Thanks again.

Re: 2wd E Series Coil Spring Codes and year to year interchange

I find the spring ratings a bit confusing. The ones I instaled are only rated for 335# more than the stock ones but are way bigger and lifted the van by 1 5/8".

Anyways, they are a bit stiffer but not too bad on the highway, I haven't tried much gravel road yet and no washboard surfaces. They are not progressive, if I understand that correctly, they are not wound progressivly tighter. The clearence with 265/75R16's is shown in the picture.

I think you could use a 2WD lift kit for an F250/350 from the mid 90's. I would not go more than 2" or you might not be able to set the camber correctly. Also, if you google "Supercoils" you will find a spring that might work.

thanks for the info. do you have a picture of your van with the new tires taken directly from the side? the only one you have in your gallery is with the lift coils and stock 245 tires, correct?

@Silver350

I know it's an old thread but still some question.
Why did you choose TTC 2814 springs?
What about the Moog CC880 springs? Did you also consider the Moog springs?

Are those not pretty similar but cheaper?

Thanks,
Martin

Looks like Silver’s last post was five years ago so don’t expect a response...
