7 wire trailer plug wiring

I have a 2008 E350 Wagon with a contour bumper. I'm trying to install a trailer plug but can't seem to find the harness to do so. One source told me that its on the left frame rail, any suggestions as to where exactly?

Also, I was told by a parts guy that there isn't any harness and that I need to hard wire it and that the taillight voltage is too low so I need a "box" of some kind that boosts voltage by taking it from the battery and only lets it go to the trailer plug and not the taillights.

I also need to wire in a brake controller, is that plug that is attached to the outside bottom of the steering column what I'm looking for and where do I get an adapter fot it?

As always, thanks in advance.

I think he's right. If you didn't order the towing package, you don't have the harness. And that greatly complicates the trailer brake hookup.

Re: 7 wire trailer plug wiring

On the drivers side frame rail about mid spare tire is the plug.
If it does not have the tow package it will have a plug for the trailer lights only. (no brake controller) So you will have to hard wire the controller separately. The plug you are looking for is about inch and a half square and has a dummy plug in it that will have to be removed. Good luck
