Anyone have a penthouse roof available for sale?

I have a 92 and am the second owner. Apparently the fiberglass roof is an older style and does not sit perfectly within the rain gutters. I called SM to see if they would sell me the top and they said no due to the fact that they cannot ensure I can install it correctly.
Does anyone have a salvaged vehicle or getting rid of a top, I am interested!

James

Anyone have a penthouse roof available for sale?

Hey there Tom,
Yes, I will def be selling my pop top along with the long gaucho and cabinetry in my 2006 EB Diesel.
I do have a buddy looking to buy everything but who knows if he will actually follow through. I don't have a price or a date since I'm waiting for Sportsmobile to quote me on the rebuild. I gotta tell you, I really love the pop top and room when it's up, but use this rig as my daily driver and many times too much of a hurry to pop up when I have short meeting inside my van so I just leave down. That's why a fixed top makes so much more sense for me.
I know I'm going to miss the roomy height after I change but I gotta do it!
Will provide updates on sale etc..

Out of curiosity, why strip and rebuild, why not start with another van- either empty or with the floorplan/top you'd rather have?

Hey there....
A few reasons why I'd rather strip and rebuild and not start with another van:
1) i'm keeping my four captains chairs, floor, interior walls, carbon fiber dash board (fake), aluminess bumpers, wheels, and 4x4 set up, so it's not worth selling.
2) the rebuild will be approx $7k after selling my top, cabinetry, fridge, sink etc. not worth starting over
3) i've heard that 2007 and newer vans require ultra-low sulphur fuel which may not be available in some areas if traveling to mexico or other areas, so having a 2006 or older is benefit since it's not required (correct me if i'm wrong)
4) i only have 68,000 miles for a 2006, low miles
5) if i were to buy a used van to rebuild, i'll have no idea where it's been (no bueno)
6) i can use the tax write off for the rebuild since it's my mobile office for my business
7) it's fun to rebuild and tinker!
8) i'm the original owner and after six years with my van, i've fallen in love! it's the best thing i've ever purchased!

BUT after seeing this van, i've been sold to rebuild:

I welcome any tips or comments! Great forum!

Consider talking with billwilson about his van rebuild. Contractor did a really nice job with it.
