Here is a before and after picture also. I just wanted to cover up the brown rockers. This was the same day I raptor lined them. Just took of all the tape and plastic. Explains all the dust on the van

I feel like the protective extra coat of material along the panel would be best for those tighter forest roads and desert tracks that have scratchy shrubs and trees to pin stripe you... and in that case, it seems like the coating should be up to just below the windows!
We're not coated. We are, though, sierra pinstriped...
Now, the further up you go, and leave it black, the older and more rough and tumble the rig's gonna look, that's true.
Boils down to, right, what's your choice.

Bianca, take a look at the Raptor job I did on Twogone's van. I had a local paint shop mix the tint base with Dupont paint and I sprayed it with the Upol (supplied) gun. It turned out really well. Check out post 300, link below. Still, I would go black, but that's just me. It looks so good on silver.
It's killing me to sell my van.

Luckily, ford didn't change much on the van over the 20 years they made it, so covering up the coloring really helps!

Anyone have a price from having this done at a line-x shop? I got an over the phone quote of $1200 on up, just to paint the rockers!! Think this might turn out to be a home job

I did Monstaliner - for just the rockers it would take one quart, maybe two if you want it thick. I bought a 2 gallon kit to do the fiber glass top, roof rack, and rockers, had 1/2 gallon left.
spend about $100 - 2 hours to prep, tape, and roll it on yourself

All the pics are helping me a lot. I don't know what I'm going to do yet, but it really helps to see the different possibilities. I'd love to see more, if they are out there.

Hey Glider.....you do know that the next most logical thing here....
....is to see if someone might do a couple quick Photoshop studies depicting various Line-X color schemes for ya, using actual pics of your van as the basis to create them.
Just getting the sense that you REALLY want to be able to picture what your van would look like....and that's kinda the only way to be really sure.....

Well, that would be extremely wonderful, if anyone is so inclined. I would be forever grateful!
I put some photos of the Silver Streak in a photo album, located here:

Here's one of the pics:
Thanks, everyone!!!
