Cruiser top / Fiberine Super Camper top questions

I have some damage to my pop top and instead of replacing it with another one I am wanting to go from pop top to fixed top and have talked with SMB west and there doesn't seem to be any issues with this. But i was wondering if i could get some feedback from those who own, owned or have been around the Cruiser top / Fiberine Super Camper. I've also heard rumours that the original mould broke and that Fiberine has a new one and wondering if anyone knows differences or changes from the original, looks as though the nose of the top now sticks out a bit farther. Same height?

Hoping to see some pictures of different layouts up top, if most are front beds or rear beds. Also did SMB do the install and finishing or outside source or home build.

I've exhausted the search button on this topic and there isn't a lot that shows up. I do realize that pop tops highly out number the guys with fixed tops but was hoping to entice some fixed toppers out of the wood work.

CCV is actually quite high on my list, if i went pop top again their mid hight pop top is quite appealing instead of another SMB one. Their bigger tops all have the front slope like the voyager top and don't quite have the over all height as a fixed top configuration. Tight for sleeping. I appreciate the suggestion.

If you're going to part with your pop top... I might be interested in buying it off ya if it's repairable. I've done fiberglass work in the past and I'm not far from you... EB or RB?

Top and canvas is long gone and wasn't usable. I can keep you posted with any parts I decide not to use from the penthouse opening. My van is EB.

I've owned a pop top and this fixed and when I buy again I'll go fixed again. I've been traveling for two years parking everywhere imaginable with lots of urban camping and haven't had a single issue. Storms, no problem. City camping, no prob. I've slept on the side of the road, industrial parks, business parks, malls, shopping centers, parks, residential streets, no worries. Sad to see this one go but excited about the next one!

There have been more than a few issues with Fiberine tops----not sure if those are still present today of they've got their poop in a group and now producing more consistent tops.

I'd suggest looking at another company called Sampson Fiberglass: http://sampsonfiberglass.com/10352.html. Not a flashy website but great to talk with---be prepared for rather large shipping costs should you use them.

Also in the Homemade/Ground Up Build forums one member here posted a thread about issues with a Fiberine top--do a quick search there maybe? I'll update this post with a link a bit later.

We have a cruiser top installed by SMB West. We don't have any upstairs sleeping. We have an EB50 layout and sleep downstairs. Up front we have storage. We have sliding windows in the upper back portion. We have cabinets above the side barn doors as across from those. We have an Aluminess roof rack and I fabricated a basket which hangs from the rear backing plates.

It is really nice to have all that storage. The floor area remains clear so we can easily use that space on the road.

Thanks for the link JWA! I've been looking for someone on this side of the states. I'm sure shipping over here would be much less than a Fiberine coming from Socal.

Check out Tufport. They're in BC.

I looked into their pricing last year... Not sure if it's the same this year but their top for EB ford started at $1800 for the utility finish, and was $2300 for the double shell finish.

They do install for $600. Takes 2 weeks to build the top and 1 day for install.
