Re: Difference between Heavy Duty, XL and XLT

Usually the "Heavy Duty" is the running gear/motor/suspension. The "XL" and "XLT" are the trim packages, i.e. upgraded interior, paint schemes and wheels.

Re: Difference between Heavy Duty, XL and XLT

I think all E350 vans are considered "heavy duty".

Main difference with XLT vans is they come standard with power locks/windows/mirrors plus the nicer headlights, chrome bumpers, floor carpet instead of rubber, cloth seats, more interior lights etc. On the Wagons, it also means full interior body trim, and standard rear A/C and Heat.

Most of items could be added to an XL van.

Perhaps the best place to look at what each option grade had for each particular year would be:

kbb.com

edmunds.com

They are price guides to vehicles, but break down by option and option groups so you can see what was available on any model - any year. Additionally, you will get a value range of what each vehicle should cost in different regions of the U.S.
