Fit in garage

Hi All,

I am trying to figure out if an SMB will fit in my garage. The van that I am looking for (for now) does not have a specific suspension upgrade that makes it higher but my garage is 6ft.9 so, I would say that it will not fit.

Do you know if the penthouse increases the hight of the van and how much?

Any idea to fit reduce the hight :-)? except removing the wheels:-)

THanks

Bastien

You can let air out of the tires. I know there are people who drop to 20 psi to get in to their garages. Depends on how often you take it out though.

I'm pretty sure that it won't fit. If the van you're looking at is 4x4,it is about 8ft tall already. I think the penthouse adds about 4 inches overall from original roof height.

my Tacoma (compact 4x4 truck) with rails barely fits in std 7ft garage. The van is substantially higher--even higher than full size truck, as they have to be lifted to make 'em 4x4.

afaik, your options are
* no garage
* different van
* different garage/location

PSI tricks won't help. Driving on brake discs (not recommended!) may not get it low enough.

You would have to get a 2wd garageable top smb. These are differentiated by their full length pop top. But I doubt that fit. That’s a small garage.

Thanks. But just to clarify, the Van that I am looking for now is not a 4wd. It is a 2wd like the below.

Any idea how much the penthouse (closed) increase the hight?

thanks

Thanks. So, it is a poptent that takes the full roof and is shorter? correct?

The top on the one you posted adds 4”. The one I posted was designed to fit in a 7’ garage. Yours is shorter than 7’ so I doubt either would fit.

6'9" is going to be a challenge with an SMB.

There have been a few GTRVs for sale. The poptops on these are not as tall.
