Has Anyone Disabled Illuminated Entry/Exit on a 2010 Ford?

My 2010 Ford lights up the parking lights, dome light and dashboard lights whenever I unlock using the remote and also if any door is opened when unlocked. This means when I get up at night to leave the van, it lights up. I would like to disable this "feature." I have found instructions on the internet for disabling this for a 2008 Ford, but the procedure didn't work on mine. It is probably something the dealer can do with their computer, but for a price. Does anyone have any suggestions for doing this myself?

No help here but I have something similar... I have an aftermarket alarm and when you lock it it beeps 3 times and unlock it beeps once. I want to disable the annoying beeping thing. At campsites it can be very problematic at night. I tend to just lock it using the key instead of the key fob alarm.

Ron, don't tell me that with all your other talents you've also learned to duke in a bottle?

Now back to the actual subject.... I would take your van to a stereo/alarm shop and have them do the work. It might be somewhat complicated if your park lamps and interior lamps are using the same harness and switch as the alarm. Ford may not even want to do the job for some unseen liability issues, (and if they did do the job they'd probably screw it up.) I would think an alarm tech could figure it out and do the job at the fraction of what the dealer would charge.

You can turn off the dome lights off by turning the dash dimmer all the way down until it clicks. Outside lights shouldn't light up if you manually unlock the door.

BTW - if you don't want the auto-unlock feature of the driver's door, you can do this:
Quote:
Before starting, ensure the ignition is off and all vehicle doors are closed. You must complete Steps 1–5 within 30 seconds or the procedure will have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, wait a minimum of 30 seconds before beginning again.
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press the power door unlock control on the door panel three times.
3. Turn the ignition off.
4. Press the power door unlock control on the door panel three times.
5. Turn the ignition back on. The horn will chirp one time to confirm programming mode has been entered and is active.
6. To enable/disable the autounlock feature, press the lock control, then press the unlock control. The horn will chirp once if autounlock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long chirp) if autounlock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition off. The horn will chirp once to confirm the procedure is complete.

Re: Has Anyone Disabled Illuminated Entry/Exit on a 2010 Ford?

My dash dimmer does not have an off setting. Unlocking the door with the key does prevent the lights from flashing, but opening the door still illuminates the parking lights. The procedure you posted is how to put the van into programming mode, but it didn't contain any instructions for what to do then. For 2008 models, entering into programming mode then pushing unlock two times within 5 seconds is supposed to enable/disable illuminated entry/exit, but it doesn't work on my 2010.

I edited my post above to include steps 5 and 6. I didn't realize those didn't copy over.

And you are correct about the dome light override. I was thinking of the Chevies.

Here is the procedure for adding a dome light override:

(it's towards the bottom of page 2)

Re: Has Anyone Disabled Illuminated Entry/Exit on a 2010 Ford?

I had the same issue with my 2006: no "off" position on the light dimmer knob, and all the interior lights turning on whenever the door was unlocked with the keyfob, or simply opened. It is possible to program the duration (the "battery saver" feature) but the minimum is 30 seconds.

Since this "feature" is very undesirable -- at least in my mind -- I had SMB-TX put a switch on the driver's side B-Pillar which disables the feature if I wish. Note that the dome reading lights still continue to operate on their toggle switches.

Now if I only has a way to turn off the Daytime Running Lights.
