Leaking E350 Rear Window

So I have what I believe to be a leaking rear passenger side window. In reading other threads, this is common on the E350's (mine's a 97). I've got the roof seams well sealed and trying to figure out the best way to seal that rear window. When it rains, the headliner is wet in a perfect line along the top right at the window edge.
Should I just silicone caulk the crap out of it, or take it somewhere?

Cheers.
Alan

It's not particularly hard to pull a window, clean it up, and put new a new butyl seal on it. Probably 40 bucks for the butyl and the tool and two hours to do the job.

Get yourself one of these:

take off all the bolts except for a few at the top, but loosen those so you don't accidentally pop the window. Cut between the plastic frame and the van body in between the bolts all the way around. It'll give, then just kind of pry it off. Clean up all the butyl on the van body and off the frame and then replace with new butyl. One trick I learned is to leave the butyl round around the bolts and smoosh it flat a bit between the bolts. It will give you a better fit when you reinstall. The bolts will smash the butyl right around them.

Put it in place and then tighten the bolts to snuggish. Do it incrimentally around and around so as to get and even seal.

I just replaced three windows I messed up and put in rear popouts. It's not so bad. 3M window weld is what I got. good stuff.

I hate to disagree but no tools are needed to remove any of the door glass. Just push very slowly and the butyl tape will break free.

So, should we smoosh or smash? The other day I was trying to decide whether to squish or squash. I wonder how many, ummm, words (?) there are for this process?

It's a tricky business. You've got to hold your mouth right while smooshing. No pun intended there either.
