With the older pup watch with steps that have holes in them that the paws and legs can get caught in.

Rather than steps, I built a simple plywood box with hinged lid that fits handily under the platform in the rear of my E250 RB 50 conversion. I place it at the side door for easy entry while camping and it is also quite useful for storing light weight items.
