Thats about 50lbs heavier. Not too bad considering the better airflow..

Now how to justify $1000.00?

I am hoping that Aluminess has now made a 2008 Ford front bumper.... as ours is to be delivered to either SMB West very soon, or SMB TX a little later.

Our 2008 Ford van should arrive at SMB West very soon (hopefully next week), but we are not clear whether the bumper will be install in CA or after the 4WD van is delivered to TX.

When I talked to SMB Fresno last week about airflow in the '08, they said that Aluminess is still looking for a '08 chasis in San Diego to model the '08 bumper. With the new grill and stacked headlights there should be a substaintial change in the design.

BTW Greg, with you being so close on delivery, have you got a final (or close to) build list you would like to share? What's being done in Fresno, vs. Texas?

The only thing being done in Fresno is the 4x4 work. tires, wheels, and maybe bumpers.

We do not have the complete build list yet, but I will share it very soon.

This is purely personal opinion and I have no facts whatsoever to back it up, but increasing available airflow to the front grill won't help much if the air can't get out of the engine compartment. In my opinion, the most significant restriction is getting the air out of the engine compartment. If the air pressure in the engine compartment is high, no amount of air flow at the grill will help.

I haven't had any engine overheating issues (at least that I know of), even while towing 7000lbs up very significant grades. I do have a larger aftermarket exhaust that probably helps a bit in this regard. The exhaust was installed by the previous owner, so I don't have any direct comparisons.

BTW, I have three large Hella lights mounted on the top of my bumper, directly in the path of the air flow.

If someone is looking to add louvers to let hot air out, here are the ones I was looking to add to my Bronco, until I actually got the carb properly dialed in and my overheating problems disappeared.

Personally I'm not a fan of the look of factory Ford fender louvers that Ford has added to the F-series, but if they're truly functional, it's definitley worth checking out to see if they can be retrofitted to the E-series.

Herb It's amazing to me that your van doesn't run hot, half your radiator is

covered! You have a good engine... I put vents in my hood and my front

fenders. It does help to get the air out.

Once I get my ScanGuage installed, I'll be more confident about the lack of overheating!

BTW, out of curiosity, have you checked the air temps coming out of your louvers? Even though I don't have overheating problems, I've always felt that high engine heat shortened the life of most underhood componenets.
